Anclote Gulf Park:
Anclote Gulf Park is a quiet, local-loved spot on the Gulf in Holiday, Pasco County, built around a 500-foot fishing pier with a wide platform at the end. It’s the kind of place where regulars know each other, the sunsets over Anclote Key are the real show, and the pier stays open 24 hours a day for anyone who wants to fish the night tide.
The fishing is easygoing and productive: spotted seatrout, redfish, jacks, mangrove snapper and catfish are regulars, with sharks and bigger fish showing on the higher tides. Winter often brings manatees into the warmer water near the pier, and dolphins, ospreys and wading birds are part of the scenery year-round. High tide fishes best — at low tide the water under the pier gets thin.
It’s a 23-acre Pasco County park with no beach access, but plenty else: picnic pavilions, restrooms, a playground, a well-kept dog park with separate areas for big and small dogs, a kayak launch, and a coastal boardwalk that connects to neighboring Key Vista Nature Park. There are no food vendors, so pack your own, and bring bug spray for the evening no-see-ums.
Parking is free through an honor box near the dog park. The pier’s wood is weathered, so watch for the odd splinter, but it’s a genuinely peaceful place to spend a few hours on the water.

500-ft pier with a platform at the end, famous for sunsets over Anclote Key. Manatees show up in winter; dolphins and birds year-round.
Fishing at Anclote Gulf Park
Fish the higher tides — the water under the pier thins out badly at low tide. Live or frozen shrimp will catch you bait and plenty of trout, snapper and jacks, while the end platform gives room to fish bigger baits for sharks and redfish. Early morning and the sunset hours are the prime windows, and a Florida license is required.
