Anglins Fishing Pier is a true South Florida institution, extending 900 feet over the Atlantic Ocean in the charming seaside village of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Originally opened on November 24, 1963, the pier has been a beloved fixture of the local fishing community for over 60 years and remains one of the only piers in South Florida open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
It’s the longest pier in Broward County and draws anglers from across the region who come for the excellent variety of species and the laid-back coastal atmosphere. No fishing license is required — the pier holds a commercial fishing license covering all anglers. The pier sits approximately 12 feet above the water, making it ideal for artificial lures.

Commercial License Covered
The pier holds a commercial fishing license — no individual Florida fishing license required for any angler.
Fishing at Anglins Fishing Pier
Near shore, anglers commonly catch Whiting, Grunts, Mangrove Snapper, Snook, and Croakers. Moving toward the middle, Pompano, Permit, Spanish Mackerel, and Bluefish become more common. At the end, larger species like Kingfish, Sharks, and Permit are in play. Seasonal highlights include Cobia and Pompano in spring and fall, Bluefish and Mackerel in winter.
Jigs work extremely well for Pompano, Mackerel, Bonefish, and Jacks. Fish shadow lines after dark for Snook. Start near shore for Whiting and Snapper, then work toward the end for Permit and Cobia. Cut bait and shrimp are reliable year-round.
