Bradenton Beach City Pier is a beloved community landmark on the southern end of Anna Maria Island, extending into the calm waters of Tampa Bay from the heart of historic Bradenton Beach. The pier has served the local fishing community for decades and sits in the center of one of Florida’s most charming and walkable beach communities — just steps from Bridge Street with its locally-owned restaurants, shops, and art galleries.
The bay-side location means calm water and a productive mix of inshore species year-round. Snook are the premier target, especially at night under the pier lights. Redfish cruise the grass flats adjacent to the pier. Sheepshead stack the pilings in winter. Spotted Seatrout are common in cooler months. Flounder are a consistent catch year-round. The relaxed, community atmosphere makes this pier a favorite for families and local anglers alike.

Fishing at Bradenton Beach City Pier
Snook are the star attraction and can be caught year-round with peak action in summer and fall at night. Redfish are present near the pier structure and surrounding grass flats. Sheepshead pile up on the pilings in winter and respond to fiddler crabs and small shrimp. Spotted Seatrout are common in cooler months in the nearby grass flat areas.
For Snook at night, use live shrimp or small pinfish on a light leader and work the shadow line where pier lights meet dark water. Sheepshead in winter need fiddler crabs or shrimp fished tight to the pilings. Redfish respond to live shrimp or cut mullet near the bottom. Flounder are caught year-round near the bottom under the lights at night.
Local Tip
Fish the Evening Tide Change
The evening tide change on the bay side is magic at this pier. As the tide shifts, baitfish get pushed and the predators follow — Snook, Redfish, and Jacks all become active. Combine fishing with dinner on Bridge Street for the perfect Anna Maria Island evening.
