Fisher Family Pier:
The Fisher Family Pier is the coastal star of Pompano Beach — a wide, modern pier reaching about 896 feet into the Atlantic, with a tee at the end shaped like a pompano, the fish the city is named for. There’s even a “fish-eye” porthole built into the deck so you can look down at the sea life below.
The pier was completely rebuilt and reopened in 2020 — four feet higher and about 50% wider than the old one, built to handle storm surge and sea-level rise. Blue awnings and benches give you shade and a place to rest, and the whole thing anchors the Fishing Village, lined with restaurants like the Pompano Beachhouse and the Oceanic.
It’s free to walk and sightsee. To fish, you pay a daily rate — about $7 for residents and $14 for non-residents — and no separate license is needed because it’s covered. The bait shop at the entrance rents gear and sells a $27 package with rod, bait, bucket, knife, a one-day license and parking validation.
The bottom under the pier is rocky, which makes it a genuinely good spot for snapper, and pelicans are constant company on the rails.

Fishing at Fisher Family Pier
The rocky bottom under the pier holds snapper year-round, and seasonal runs bring Spanish mackerel, bluefish, pompano and snook along the rail. There’s a three-rod limit per person, and kids under 10 need an adult. Live shrimp and small jigs are reliable; fish the structure and the moving tide.
